The meridian system offers a traditional map for understanding movement and relationship within the body.
Across these lessons, you have explored how the meridian pairs are associated within Traditional Chinese Medicine with different functions and themes: receiving and releasing, nourishment and transformation, clarity and discernment, reserve and resilience, protection and regulation, flow and direction, and the wider connection created through the extraordinary meridians.
Together, they form one interconnected system.
Within TCM, the meridians are understood to support the movement of qi throughout the body. Each pair has its own traditional associations, while also contributing to the wider relationship between breathing, digestion, movement, rest, emotion and daily function.
Movement gives you a practical way to explore these ideas through your own body.
Slow, controlled movement can bring awareness to posture, breathing, balance, coordination and physical sensation. You may begin to notice how different areas of the body respond, where movement feels easy, and where there is more tension or restriction.
Within the TCM framework, these movements may also be understood as supporting the movement of qi through the meridian system.
There is no need to focus on every meridian at once. The value comes from understanding the traditional framework and then noticing what you experience through movement.
